Chapter 148
After what felt like an arduous trek, he opened another door, revealing a room bathed in warm light, filled with all the comforts of home. Connor was busy unpacking supplies from a pantry, cramming them haphazardly into cupboards while whistling cheerfully. He paused for a moment to glance at me and Xavier.
"I wasn't sure about the sleeping arrangements, so I moved mine down the hall and put her next to you," Connor said to Xavier, an impish smirk playing on his lips.
I felt a sudden surge of embarrassment, squirming slightly, though I couldn't quite place why.
"That's perfectly fine. Do we require anything additional?" Xavier inquired, maintaining his composed demeanor.
"Nope! We're fully stocked—enough for an extended stay," Connor replied, the brightness of his tone unwavering.
Xavier nodded with agreement. "Alright then. I'll show Aadita around for a bit, then I'll be back. There are things we need to discuss without delay."
