Chase could sense Ellen's actions, which she chose to ignore despite the fact that they were in the same place. After the woman asked about Chase reason for bringing her to the penthouse rather than anywhere else, Ellen seemed to have deliberately closed her mouth tighter, and no one could find an answer from those lips.
