Chapter 109

As they all sat down to dinner, smiles flew around effortlessly. Jessica was, for once, a part of whatever was going on.

Jessica felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She removed it, declined the call, and dropped it on the table.

“You can get that,” Dawson said, gesturing to her.

“Oh, don’t worry, I will call them back after dinner.” She knew there was no way she would pick up a call from her aunt in the presence of everyone there. She did not even want to be affiliated with the woman.

The phone went off a couple more times before the caller stopped. Jessica knew she was going to call back, though. Her aunt did this funny thing where she called nonstop for a short period, rested for a few minutes, and then called back in full force.
