Xavier lifted his eyes to see Jessica staring intensely at him. He felt his face flush with embarrassment. How could she be openly staring at him like that?

“Can I give you a call after dinner?” Xavier said, his voice firm and enticing.

Jessica could not make out the words he said, but she knew they drew her in. She looked at his well-chiseled body, and hearing that voice did something strange to her stomach—something she could not quite explain.
