“Stand up, let’s go home,” Xavier said sternly.

He did not know how they had ended up in this situation, but it was dishonorable for any Delgado to be in a police station.

“Are you not going to ask for a settlement?” Leslie asked.

It was not as if the money to be paid was anything significant compared to the family’s wealth. Xavier did not see the need for compensation.

“We will go without it,” Xavier announced.

He did not care to know how or why they were there or why Leslie had suggested settlement money.

“Stand up,” Xavier said again sternly.

Why did he have to come to the police station to pick her up despite his busy schedule? Jessica stood up slowly. As she did, she made eye contact with Burke, who had just entered the station and
