Chapter 63
The car slowly came to a halt in front of the sandy beach. Xavier turned off the ignition and slowly removed his seatbelt.
The wails that had turned into silent sobs had now left the crying girl in a deep sleep. Xavier rested his head on the steering wheel, supporting it with his hand, as he stared at Jessica.
She had been crying nonstop, so her face was all swollen, and her mascara had smudged. Seeing the ruined makeup, Xavier was reminded of the first day they met outside the courthouse.
He had been too worried about the situation before him to notice her, but looking back now, he could not deny that even with her ruined makeup and red face, she still looked good.
Jessica stirred slightly in her sleep, and her eyes flew open. She looked at Xavier for a few seconds before pushing herself upright in her seat.
