“Remember what?” Jessica asked, confused.
“You really don’t remember?” Xavier asked, studying her face. “Now I’m hurt that you don’t remember.”
“Did I lose some memories?” Jessica asked, staring into space.
“I can’t believe you’ve forgotten when you were the one who suggested it,” Xavier said.
A wave of recognition washed over her. She remembered how she had wanted to be in a more comfortable situation with him and had suggested they become friends. His attitude had not made it easy.
