Daniel’s POV
The papers for Maya’s rehab were on my desk, her name staring at me. My office was quiet, but my mind was loud. I kept hearing Sienna’s voice saying, you lied to me, I messed up by not telling her about Maya’s drug problem, and now she thought I was cheating. I felt terrible for letting her get hurt and for not explaining. I wanted her; her laughter, her strong spirit, the way she made me feel truly alive, but I had ruined it by staying quiet.
I looked through the papers, my jaw tight. Maya’s addiction was a huge problem, taking over my life and my chance with Sienna. I couldn’t keep helping her if it meant losing the one woman who liked me for who I was, not for my money.
