Chapter 82
Daniel’s POV
The MRI machine hummed loudly, a constant buzzing sound that shook my whole body.
I had been doing tests for weeks.
Doctors kept giving each other worried looks, talking quietly where I couldn’t quite hear them.
It started small: a cough that wouldn’t go away, trouble breathing that I blamed on stress, then a huge tiredness that even lots of sleep couldn’t fix.
I just kept going.
Until I couldn’t.
Maya had said something, her face full of worry, “You’re working too hard, Daniel.”
Of course, I just brushed them all off.
My big company wouldn’t build itself.
The first real scare happened during a meeting with my company’s leaders. My eyes went blurry. The numbers on the screen looked wavy.
A sudden, sharp pain shot through my chest. I grabbed the armrest of my chair, cold sweat breaking out on my skin.
