Daniel’s POV
The cold air of the hospital room suddenly felt charged.
Ellie’s voice, sharp and cutting, sliced through the fragile moment I shared with Sienna.
My heart had just found a tiny flicker of peace, a whisper of forgiveness from the woman I loved, and now Ellie was here to snatch it away.
Her presence filled the room with a sour, bitter air, a stark contrast to Sienna’s gentle touch.
“What is she doing in here?” Ellie’s voice, usually so controlled, was edged with fury. She snapped at the doctor beside her.
“Doctor, I specifically requested no visitors outside of immediate family. And certainly not… distractions.” She spat the last word, her eyes burning into Sienna.
My hand, still held gently by Sienna’s, tightened. I could feel Sienna’s own grip firming, ready to stand her ground.
But Ellie had pushed me too far, for too long. My body was broken, yes, but my spirit, oddly, felt clearer than it had in months.
