Ayleen recalled how Selina had promised to visit her the next day. That devil must have made up a nice story to keep her away.
Uncle Ibrahim! He was not due to return until next week.
Her thoughts went back to her parents. They must be worried. She had not been able to call them for a week now. Then she thought about Selina, Gran, and her previous university and life. Thinking about it, she realized how cut off she was from everything, not even having the slightest idea about any of them. It felt like being at the other end of the world.
If it were her previous life, she would be at her university studying to achieve her dreams and complaining about how hard it was at the same time. Selina, on the other hand, would be nagging her to get a spa or facial with her and, if not, saving her clumsy self from being reprimanded. Gran would also be there, walking side by side with her in the park near her dormitory building, discussing her whole day.
