Chapter 287

Christian's POV

He prays and sprinkles holy water on them. The Chief Justice who had decided on their fate steps forward and asks them if they have any last words to make. Ashina is the first toe of her head, she can't raise her hand because her body has been tied to the stake.

"Yes!"

He permits her to say what she intends to say.

"King Christian, please come closer." Immediately she mentioned my name, I shrieked in shock. I wasn't expecting this. I thought that perhaps she was going to ask the world to forgive her, she was going to point out to everyone standing here how wrong she was and how she has regretted the life she lived. I felt reluctant a bit, then the Chief Justice steps in and gestures to me to come forward, I move forward standing some inches away from her.

Tears form and flow from her eyes as we stand here, locking gazes with each other, after some minutes, her eyes fall. She is way too nervous to continue staring at me. After two
