Chapter 40

Riek's POV 

He nods and reluctantly follows him out of the house. I stare at him till he's out of sight, I give him a warm smile as he walks out of the room, then my gaze turns to Conri and then to Bardulf who is standing beside me. 

"Why did you have him bound? I thought we were going to take Fridolf and go away immediately." I lean my head towards his ear to say. 

He smirks, thinks for a while. "I just want to get some information from him, just to help you." 

"How are you sure he will tell you this?" 

"I feel he'll do that when he's under pressure!" He says confidently. 

"I…what if..?" I want to say something else but his attention is taken to Conri who is sitting on the bare floor with only trousers, groaning in shame and pain. I bite my lower lips, inhaling and exhaling heavily. 

"Why did you take Tala to live with you at first, this is the continuation of the discussion we had several weeks ago?" Bard
