The drive home was quiet, but for once, it wasn’t awkward or full of tension. It was peaceful.
Sienna sat in the passenger seat, her head resting lightly against the window, shoes kicked off, her legs tucked under her like she belonged there. And maybe… she did.
It was a long day for the two of us. That was not something that I could easily deny or ignore.
She didn’t speak, and I didn’t push for conversation either. We didn’t need it. After the chaos of the day, the silence between us felt earned. Comfortable. Like something we had fought for and finally started to understand. Something that the two of us found ourselves embracing together. It was better this way between us. Sometimes just spending time together was a better option.
When we pulled into the estate, she gave me a small, sleepy smile before slipping out of the car. I waited until she stepped inside before following behind her.
