“Just remember,” Father said as he poured himself another drink, “You can act soft, sweet, play the part of the wide-eyed girl rediscovering her family. But underneath it all, you are my daughter. Do not forget that. And be sure to play your part as to make sure that no one is to find out who you are.”
“You know that I am not easily played, father.” I said, raising an eyebrow at him. He studied me for a moment before nodding, giving me a gentle smile.
“I know, but these people are not as easy as they look to be. They are manipulative, and they believe that everyone should be submitting to them. It is only natural for me to be worried about my child.” He said, handing me a glass of scotch. I set the glass on the table in front of me. I knew better than to drink when I had a lot on my mind.
“I doubt that you would believe me to poison you, child.”
“And I doubt that you would think for a moment that I would be doubting you, father.” I said,
