Chapter 139. The Black Raven's Revenge
Ralph stayed like that for half an hour as if he was taking his time to stay in my arms while collecting himself. Then he decided to let go and looked at me with pleading eyes as if he was still trying to convince me not to go. But I can’t make Edison wait anymore. I know where I belong and no matter how much it hurts me to see him like this, I just can’t stay.
I need Edison. Our child needs him.
I just stared back at him silently and I could not help the pang of guilt that stabbed my chest because I knew I could never reciprocate that kind of love that Ralph gave me. I can feel he loves me with all his heart. It is etched clearly on his face and can see in his every body language whenever I am around him. And yet love has its mysterious way of binding someone to the most unexpected person you never thought you would dedicate your life to.
“Let’s go, Claire,” he breathed with a heavy feeling in his chest as he wiped the tears from his eyes with the back of his hand
