Chapter 27. The Mysterious Aristocrat
My body trembled in fear as he carried me down the carriage, and the ground that I stood on was full of pebbled stones. The stones clattered at each other every time I took a step on them.
The only place I knew where there was pebbled ground like this was near the largest lake in Tyrell territory, and estimating the time and how far we traveled, I believed my guess was right. I could smell the fresh scent of the lake from the carriage.
It was so hard to breathe with the cloth in my mouth and with my heart frantically beating against my chest. Despite the fear, I made myself stay wary and focused.
“Are they really going to pay us?” One of them asked as they walked me somewhere. I smelled old wood. A cabin? The wooden floor creaked under my shoes.
“They have to! We risked so much for this! ”
