Despite being imprisoned in this solitary confinement, I still felt our mating bond. I could feel if Knight was pissed off or worried about something, and it just confirmed that something was wrong when Shadow came in a hurry and called Zack out of the room.

“What’s going on?” I felt suddenly helpless inside.

They must be talking through their pack link, but when Zack left quickly, my desperation rocked me, and my chest heaved.

“Shadow, please?”

She made a deep sigh before she faced me. How she looked at me, I knew something terribly went wrong back at the vineyards.

“There’s been an attack at the vineyards. That’s all I know. Knight left with Califf, Zarah, and the guys.”

“Then you should let me out, Shadow. I need to be there. I can help.” I stepped closer to her, but the invisible walls kicked me back when I went too close. “Shit. God, I hate magic!”

“It’s not up to me, and I don’t know how to take it down.”
