Chapter 54

Claire

The night swallowed me whole as I left the villa behind, the only sound my suitcase rattling over the stones. My chest heaved, fury and despair tangling in a knot so tight it made it hard to breathe.

But now that I was out of there, I found myself being completely lost. I didn't know where to go or what to do. I didn't even know if I chose to make the right decision.

I had nowhere to go.

No one to turn to.

No one but the one man I swore I would never call.

And that man, the man that I knew was waiting for me to weaken, to drop, was the one man that I wanted to avoid.

I put my hand on my stomach where my baby was growing, where his baby was growing. A tearful from my eye before I could stop it, but I was quick to wipe it as I looked away.

“There's no use crying now, Claire. You need help. You have nowhere to go and no one to resolve to.” I whispered to myself, encouraging myself to call him. Deep down I knew
