Liam
For a long moment after it hit us, I couldn’t move. It was as if my whole body refused to respond to my demands of getting up. I just wanted to cradle her in my arms.
Her body was still trembling under mine, her breath uneven, and I stayed exactly where I was, my chest pressed to hers, my arms locked around her like if I let go, she might disappear again.
I kissed her neck gently, letting my lips linger there for a moment too long before pulling away to rest my forehead in the crook of her neck.
I once again kissed her shoulder, her scent filled my lungs, warm and intoxicating, tangled with the faint salt of her skin. I buried my face into the crook of her neck, inhaling her like I was afraid I’d forget the way she smelled.
“Liam…” she whispered, her voice still shaky. And to my surprise, she wrapped her arm around my back as if reminding me that she was here, gently scratching my shoulder, just as she did in the past. A memory that I though
