I eased the door shut behind me, careful not to wake Anastasia. The hallway was quiet, dimly lit by the soft glow of the sconces along the wall. I had barely taken a step when I saw him.
And though I did not want to admit it, the smile on my face was not one that was willing to fade, and I knew the reason behind it. Which was the man who just read a story to his daughter, who still did not know who he was, and yet was finding herself bonding with him in ways that she could not describe.
But as I turned to leave, my eyes widened when I saw him.
