Jenna’s POV

The cave walls breathed with the tide, even this far inland though Calista swore they didn’t and that it was just my imagination and her wards humming. But I could feel it; salt and pressure, the ocean pressing its ear against the stone to listen to us plot. Kind of poetic. Kind of annoying. I don’t how I knew, but I did. The ocean seemed to scheme to put us before our plan was ready. I would not let it. Maybe I was going crazy?

I flicked my thumb across my phone, scrolling the pack gossip app and the Council news feed one after another. It was a carnival out there.
