Elvira POV

It fekt like I was floating or maybe falling. Everything around me blurred, no sense of time, no weight in my limbs, no voice to scream. Just the cold, then the heat. My skin prickled with frost, and then melted in flame.

A scent pulled me back from the void.

Jaxon.

My lashes fluttered open. Light pressed against the back of my eyes. I shifted, or tried to. My body groaned in protest, muscles stiff, head pounding with an ache that rooted behind my eyes.

“Elvira?”

His voice.

I blinked, disoriented. White sheets, a beige ceiling. The faint hum of a heater somewhere nearby. A large hand brushed a damp strand of hair off my cheek. Fingers warm, careful, like I’d break if he pressed too hard.
