The moment we crossed into Blackwood territory, tension visibly melted from Alexander’s shoulders.

His jaw relaxed, though his eyes remained alert as he carried me through the pack house’s grand entrance.

“You don’t need to carry me,” I protested weakly, even as I nestled closer against his broad chest. “I can walk.”

“Indulge me,” he murmured, his lips brushing against my temple. “I need to feel you safe.”

The pack members we passed lowered their eyes respectfully, but I caught their curious glances.

Their Alpha carrying bloodied luna through their halls was surely fodder for gossip, but Alexander paid them no mind as he climbed the sweeping staircase to the private quarters.
