Chapter 16. New Beginnings

Avery’s POV

I had ran for hours after parting with Charles, I had ran knowing I would never go back to my pack, and I had run till my body gave out. I had passed out, and I had woken up and pulled myself together all on my own.

My feet and my entire body ached, but I kept moving until I finally got away from the territory. I boarded a bus to take me far away from here.

The cool evening air carried a promise of peace as I stepped off the bus and into unfamiliar territory. The Midnight Pack’s lands stretched before me, dotted with neat homes, bustling streets, and thick woods that framed the horizon. It was both comforting and intimidating; a place so different from the suffocating familiarity of my home.
