Chapter 40. Possessive
Dylan’s POV
The sound of Avery’s footsteps as she paced her room echoed in my ears, each step tightening the knot in my chest. I stood just outside the door, debating whether to go in or leave her to simmer in her anger. The past few days had been a torment; watching her heal physically, but still resisting every ounce of care I tried to give.
I ran a hand through my hair, frustration building inside me. She was so stubborn, so difficult to reason with, and she retainer this fiery determination to push me away.
The woman I had spent months obsessing over was finally here, but she didn’t recognize me. She didn’t remember the white wolf that had been drawn to her like a moth to flame.
And now, she was standing on the other side of this door, plotting how to leave me again.
