The moment the hypnosis lifted, the invisible threads that had bound Dylan to my will snapping like overstretched elastic, he blinked slightly, his body tensing as if shaking off an unseen force.

His breathing was uneven, ragged, and his eyes… his eyes flickered with something raw, something unguarded, something that made my breath catch in my throat. They were no longer the controlled, calculating eyes of the Alpha, but something more vulnerable, more exposed.
