Maeve’s POV

I pushed my enhanced senses to their limit, sprinting out of the castle on all fours in my wolf form, desperate to reach whatever catastrophe had descended on the pack. Dark smoke curled into the sky, and the acrid scent of death stung my nostrils. I reached for Draven—or any packmate—through our telepathic link, but the connection was dead.

I tore away from the castle grounds and headed straight for the Packhouse, where chaos reigned, and the Eclipse Pack army had already made landfall. Looming over the carnage was a viscous black veil suspended just above the earth, blotting out the sky above our territory. Fear stabbed through me at the sight—it was dark magic, a barrier spell designed to block all magical channels. From its underside, fiery spheres dropped like meteorites, scattering across the packhouse grounds. A cluster of them arced toward the witches’ quarters.
