I spurred my horse into a faster gait until the fortress’s looming walls filled my vision. I rode straight past the warriors stationed around the perimeter, each clad in the Circle’s uniform with half their faces obscured by masks. At the main gate, I dismounted, the reins slipping into a soldier’s waiting hands.
