I slowed my horse as I neared the Council’s castle, blue eyes narrowing at the few warriors and elders scattered among the trees. Pulling my mount to a halt, I slid down and muttered, “What the hell happened?”
I pushed on into the woods, looking for Draven. Not far in, I spotted Seraphine beneath a tree, Luther at her side. I hurried over. “Luther,” I said, hugging him, then turned to Seraphine. “Seraphine, it’s so good to have you back,” I breathed, pulling her into a quick embrace. She stepped back, fixing her violet gaze on me. “How did it go?” I asked urgently.
She offered a small, relieved smile. “Good. We found Shota’s remains, and we’re only one step away from discovering who the vessel is.”
