Chapter 75
Draven’s POV
I ended the meeting and strode out alongside everyone else. Only then did I realize I’d forgotten to close the general mind link binding the pack to me. In that instant they all learned everything: that Thea was not the gifted one and that Maeve might be the very person we had been searching for. Panic threatened to seize me, so I hurried back to my chambers where Maeve lay. Elysia waited beside her bed; the moment she saw me, she bowed her head.
“How is she?” I asked, moving closer.
“Still the same, Alpha,” Elysia replied grimly. “She’s in pain, and her body is burning up.”
I nodded, dread pooling in my stomach. After a few moments, Elysia slipped out, leaving me alone with my mate. Carefully, I climbed into the bed next to her. My large hand cupped her soft, round cheek, and I felt the fever scorching through her skin.
