Maeve’s POV
I couldn’t catch my breath, and the tremors underfoot were only intensifying.
“Get away from her, both of you. This is your fault, Luth!” Viviana called, pushing through to me and wrapping her arms around my shoulders. She began rubbing soothing circles against my back. Whatever she did, it worked: my ragged breathing slowed, and the earth’s vibrations ceased.
I pulled back enough to speak. “Thanks.”
