Nate’s POV

I had danced with Ember until her legs had almost given way underneath her and quite honestly, I don’t think either of us had ever laughed as much as we did tonight.

Our pack members had watched with pride and happiness as they saw for themselves a different side to me when I had my mate in my arms. It was so obvious that this was what had been missing from my life for so long, my beautiful mate, Ember.

I was keenly aware of the dangerous glares that Beatrice and her friends sent our way as they huddled together and mocked us as we had the time of our lives, but for once, Ulfric didn’t seem to give a shit about what was happening around him, he was far too deep in his drink to register much of what was going on.

I don’t know what had happened to the fearless King that he had been when he first took the throne, but now, he was nothing but a shadow of his former self.

Even Rob had commented on his disgust at Ulfric’s descent into debauch
