Chapter 40. Jealous

Before giving any response, a waiter came bringing the drinks and some appetizers. “Please wait for a moment, the main course is on the way,” he said then left.

There was an awkward silence between the two of them. Evan chose to try the appetizer in front of him. Meanwhile, Grace didn’t try to repeat her question and ate along instead.

Accidentally Grace swept the napkin with her left hand, accidentally dropping it to the floor. She quickly bent her body to take it back. However, before she sat back straight, a familiar voice was heard.

“Mr. Williams? What a coincidence to meet you here.” The deep raspy voice certainly belonged to Gwen, the hotel manager of finance. “Ah, who are you with? Is it your girlfriend?”

Grace didn’t want to be involved in another scandalous matter that might occur if Gwen saw her with Evan. Thus she didn’t show her face when she stood up. “Excuse me, I need to wash my hand.” She brought her purse with her and headed to the restroom.<
