Chapter 137. A Small Cave

For a short while I sat on a wooden bench in the dim candlelight that illuminated the room in a hazy blue glow. Gylen, sitting opposite me, stared intently at my face, observing my expressions closely. I had hoped for him to say something comforting but all he had said was:
“Do you have any idea what happened?”
My mouth felt dry and I struggled to swallow, trying hard not to reveal that I was actually experiencing a terrible headache. I shook my head wordlessly.
Gylen reached out his hand as if hesitating, then drew back and let his hand drop to the table. “Do you want something?”
I shook my head. The headache was becoming more painful than ever.
He frowned. “You’re sure? That doesn’t sound good.”
I hesitated slightly before replying, “It’s fine.” I wanted to ask why he cared, but I bit down hard on my tongue, stopping the words from flowing out.
