“To work as a real estate agent?” I asked, assuming he worked with one of the Brighton hustlers or was a potential investor.
“To practice as an architect,” he replied.
I sat up a little straighter.
“Oh.”
He stopped paying attention to the road long enough to look at me.
“You seem surprised.”
“I’m not,” I replied. “It fits you.”
“So you think? In what sense?”
