Chapter 79. Miscarriage
I was sitting in the waiting lounge of the hospital, my shoulder hunched and my face buried in my hands.
“Vinnie, you want some coffee?” I heard my mom say in a gentle voice, as if I would break if her voice was any louder.
I shook my head.
“You know, whatever the reports will say, it's not your fault,” Elise said, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“Yes, sweetie, this can happen to anyone,” Mom added.
Whatever they kept saying, for some reason, I couldn't make sense of it. What were they saying? What did their words mean?
Not… my… fault?
But how? How wasn't it my fault? I don't understand.
