Chapter 14
“Tio, Tio, I’m at Omagwa airport. Please just wait… I’m on my way.”
Bam-Bam’s voice was a mixture of fear and confusion, and I didn’t bother to respond when she called again an hour later. Immediately after she ended the call, I put down the phone and continued staring blankly at the television screen. That particular day was a Saturday. By Monday, the countdown to the initiation would begin…just a matter of time.
Less than an hour after I spoke with Bam-Bam, there was a knock on the front door, and I could guess who it was.
“Calm down, just calm down… everything’s okay…stop crying…sit down.” It took me more than twenty minutes to pacify her before she stopped crying and sat down with a wet handkerchief.
