“It’ll soon be over, Tio…very soon,” she whispered to me in a soothing voice. I nodded as an usher went around the church auditorium and reduced the speed of the standing fans while some female members among us began to adjust and tighten their headscarves and berets.
“By God’s grace, I hope and…believe.”
The time on the wall clock showed the time to be nine o’clock.

He wasn’t in a hurry as he trudged towards his destination to execute his last assignment. It had been wonderful knowing and ‘working’ for me…but at that moment, he didn’t feel like an invisible double doing something sacrilegious, but rather a soldier who’d been given orders to carry out.
The weather was cool as he walked barefoot on the tarred road. The last time he did something, he just had to do it well, he thought. One thing consoled him as he walked past Monier Construction Company (MCC). It was the fact that he had nothing to lose since he wasn’t a human being.
