Days after the accident that affected Sarah, she was still under the influence of medications. As we anxiously awaited improvements in her health, our distress only grew.
Although she was in stable condition, there was uncertainty surrounding the precise diagnosis of the spinal cord injury and the possibility of her walking again. This uncertainty would only be dispelled when Sarah emerged from the induced coma.
A week had already passed, but I chose to stay in London. I didn't want to return to Seattle without Sarah, but her transfer to the United States had not been authorized. This was due not only to health issues but also because there were no blood relatives to assume responsibility.
