JULIAN
“Claudius, w—what are you doing here?” Julian stammered, his question confirming my suspicion about the General’s identity.
“This is my room as well, in case you’ve forgotten.” Claudius’s tone was somewhat sharp. Perhaps she was irritated.
“Um—we… we…” Julian kept fumbling over his words, clearly trying to find an explanation.
“Are you both decent?” Claudius probed on, not even looking in my direction. His tone was flat, as though he had no interest in whatever excuse Julian might have.
Julian glanced at me, his gaze dragging over my form to make sure I was properly covered. His eyes stirred that familiar heat, and I fought not to let the lingering frustration show on my face.
“Yes, we’re decent,” Julian answered.
Claudius turned slowly, his gaze focused solely on Julian, ignoring me entirely. He continued with a hard, unreadable expression, throwing daggers in our direction. “Then please, lady… leave us.”
