Chapter 68. I Am You
VESTA
The forest stretched before me, dark and haunting, with towering trees that hovered like looming shadows, their branches entwining overhead in a thick canopy that barely let the moonlight through. There was a mystical aura to the place, an eerie beauty that sent chills down my spine.
Mist clung to the ground, weaving between the tree trunks, and every step felt like venturing further into an unknown realm. This wasn’t the path to the north I remembered. It felt otherworldly, alive. How had I ended up here? And where were Aurelia and Sigrid?
The wind whispered through the leaves, brushing against my skin, and I felt goosebumps rise as if in warning. Shadows flickered at the edge of my vision, and I had the unsettling feeling of being watched—no, not just by one pair of eyes, but many. They lurked in the darkness, hidden yet undeniably there, their presence thickening the air.
“Aurelia? Sigrid?” I called out, straining for any response.
Nothing.
