Chapter 4. Answer Without Thinking

BARRY

Kelly looks at me surprised by what I just said. It's the super rash of me, but I don't want to wait any longer, she's pretty, and it looks like her genes and mine will make a beautiful baby. However, I've noticed her negativity toward me. And I know it's my fucking fault, for being such an asshole, and treating her so badly since my eyes first fell on her. There she was, like right now, at her desk, doing her job, until I came to torment her life. I don't understand why I still act like a child when they like a classmate, they always go and show their love by pulling their hair and being unbearable, well, that's how I've been with her.

"I don't know, I said I'd tell her my answer. "She nervously comes to his defense.

"I can't wait any longer "she's surprised and also pressured, and that's what I want to inflict on her so that she gives me a definitive and quick answer because my problem deserves a solution as soon as possible.

"I haven't told my parents, and I don't think they will believe this lie, sir. " I think I've forgotten the fact that my secretary does have a family, but I don't, I can do whatever I want, but she doesn't. She plays with her blonde hair.

She fiddles with her blonde hair, I think out of everything Kelly is, I like her blonde hair the most, she's so cute. "You don't have to explain yourself to your parents, you don't live with them anymore. "I inform her as if that wasn't obvious enough. I'm trying to convince her, and I'll do everything to do it.

From the moment I saw her, I knew Kelly was something I'd like to have, she's beautiful and she's the only woman who's ever said stupid things to me even though I'm her boss. "It's complicated," he replies almost under his breath.

"Nothing's complicated, you're the complicated one. "He opens his mouth to complain but closes it.

"Yes, it is complicated, because I don't want to marry someone who doesn't even love me, and I don't even love him. "He confesses.

"Please, I need your help. "I turn around and start to walk away, but she stops me and says in a voice full of tension.

"Because of me? " I stop in my tracks.

"You're my only option, you're the only one I want. " I admit, sure of what I'm saying.

"Then... I accept. "She's given me her answer! I turn to her and look at her.

"Come into my office, please," I hope my excitement doesn't show.

She hesitantly does so. I gesture for her to take a seat and I do the same.

"I gave you a copy of the contract, now you need to sign the original. That "I agree" encompasses two things; the baby and the marriage, you know that don't you," she nods with wide eyes.

"I want to do things as soon as possible because I have to present the pregnancy test before the end of the month. We are almost at the end of the month, with 16 days to go. And we need to get started on the baby, that's what I need to get started on, but also the marriage. "I say seriously.

"Yes, but I need you to go with my family and for the marriage to be formal. "She asks nervously.

"I'll go tonight. "I say quickly.

"All right. I'll tell them right now. I don't know how my parents are going to take it "she's nervous.

"We'll see what happens. I hope everything works out for us," I admit.

She goes out and immediately picks up her mobile and dials a number. She speaks, and her body language says it all: she's nervous. Deep down I'm nervous too.

"Good morning, graduate. In two weeks I'll bring the pregnancy test and the marriage certificate. "I say victoriously, my father's lawyer; when he read the will, he swore he wouldn't receive the inheritance. But he was wrong.

"Remember that paternity tests will also be needed. "He gestures.

"No problem. I assure you I'll bring them to him, I'll bring them to him personally. "I hang up like a rude man and smile. Everything is going as I wanted it to.

I shut down my computer and leave my office. Kelly is still working.

"What time do you think? "I ask her.

"I told my parents I'd be there at 8.30, my mum didn't think so because it was too late for dinner, but she gave in. "She explains.

"I'll pick you up at 7.35," I say finally.

"Shall I give you my address? "he asks innocently.

"I know it. "My answer surprises her completely.

A while later at home, I eat some fruit and take a long, refreshing, mind-clearing shower. I go straight to my dressing room; is it a formal dinner? Formal?

I decided to call Kelly.

"Should I wear a suit or jeans," I ask as soon as she takes the call.

"You're a man with a spectacular fashion sense, I don't understand why you're asking, but not much of either. Don't be so formal and don't be so casual. "He says.

"Thanks, you've left me the same. "Sputter.

"Sorry, he's wearing a suit, but no tie. That will make you look less formal and not so neat," he advises me.

"Thank you very much, I'll take that into account, I'll see you later," I say normally.

I do as he asks. I choose a black suit and a white shirt, like a penguin. I look at myself in the mirror and I know that I'm going to take a big step in my life today. I go to my wine cellar and pull out a wine to take to Kelly's house. I grab the keys to my new toy; my BMW F06 M6 is waiting for me in my garage, ready to be driven. I get in and check my watch, I'm early so I can stop by the florist to buy roses for Kelly's mum and her. The bad thing is I don't know what to buy or Kelly's tastes. So I rack my brains thinking. So I ask them to make me a flower arrangement with all the flowers they have; the florist tells me it will be expensive, but he doesn't care; with Kelly's help, I'll get more than a few flowers can cost. Millions and millions.

20 minutes later I'm in front of the gate of Kelly's building. I call her through the intercom and she's slow to answer.

"I'm already downstairs, I'm waiting for you.

"I'm coming," she says anxiously.

Five minutes later, Kelly appears in a black dress that fits her body perfectly; she almost always goes to the office in trousers. She never wears a skirt or a dress, and without much make-up, which makes me think she's made herself pretty for the occasion.

Without a doubt, Kelly is very beautiful. I never doubted it; however, my dad forbade me to go near her, he didn't want me to play with her, and as soon as I got my position I moved her to another area, but my dad was furious.

"Hello."

"Sir," she says ruefully, "come on..."

"Can you call me Barry, please," I ask.

"Barry," he corrects.

"Let's go. "I, like any gentleman, open my car door for him, go around him; I sit down and fasten my seat belt.

"I didn't know you had this car," but how naïve, did I really think I only had one?

"The Jeep is for my daily routine, and this beautiful one just arrived last week. Today is the first day I've driven it," I admit. From now on we both keep quiet and she only talks to me for directions to her parent's house.

She explained to me in detail that she had a surprise for them and that she didn't mention anything about the situation or me. I tell her about the flowers and she tells me that I have been researching her family; because Kelly's mum happens to love flowers and has a garden that she loves. No doubt I'll look good to my future mother-in-law.

"Ready?" she asks nervously.

"Yes, Kelly. Come on and follow my lead. "I say.

"And you're just like me. "Before the door opens, I take her by the hand so they don't think strange things.

"Oh my goodness," exclaims the lady who opens the door for us.

"Mum," Kelly greets her. At that moment I take the flower arrangement and hand it to her and she is surprised.

"Oh thank you, my boy." She thanks me.

" But what are you doing here, Barry," Kelly's dad asks.

"We have a surprise," I manage to say with a small smile. Then Albert looks at our hands, and his face is a bloody poem.

"Are you two together? " He asks, puzzled.

"Yes," he answers for me.

Still standing outside the house, I say, "We've come to give you a few surprises."

"Well, come on in, I want to hear them," says Kelly's mother." I think her name is Carlota" I've never seen or met them, but I know they are twins and there's a normal ones because one day I heard a talk between my dad and Albert.

"Denis," says Denis, looking me up and down. " He introduces me to my boyfriend."

"Barry Freeman"I greet him.

"Denis Parker." He returns the greeting just as coldly as I did.

"Come on, do you want to have dinner first or talk? "Carlota intervenes.

"Talk." The three of us answer: "Denis, Kelly, and me. Of course, her brothers are very protective of her."

"What time do Steve and Dale get here? Asks Kelly."

"They won't be long. " I, still holding Kelly, say, "We've come to deliver a bit of news."

"Tell me you're not pregnant," hisses Denis.

"Of course not." His palms are sweating profusely.

"Denis!" screams Carlota in horror.

"We're here, mum! "shouts a boy of about 17 or so. And from behind him comes the other twin.

"Good evening," he greets. This is all very, very awkward.

Five minutes later, we are all sitting in the small living room. Kelly and I are on the middle couch, and everyone looks at us.

"Family... I want to tell you... Barry and I want to get married..."Kelly says awkwardly. " Kelly says with difficulty. Carlota looks at her in surprise as all the men in the house look at me with a frown, "you didn't know this, but Barry and I have been together for almost seven months."

"About to turn eight," I support her.

"And isn't that soon? " Dale asks.

"Yes, but we don't want to wait," my future wife interjects.

"Albert, you know me. I don't have any addictions or problems and with me, Kelly won't want for anything. "I explain carefully.

"They already have a date," Carlota asks us, very excited to know the details of our real wedding for them and the fake one for me and Kelly.

"Yes, in two weeks. We were already planning it for a long time and I just wanted to tell them to have all their support," the blonde girl answers for me.

"Kelly, honey... As far as I'm concerned, it's perfect. They have all my support" Carlota looks at us with affection, and seeing Kelly's mother makes me think of my own, of Mariana, I wish my mother loved me the way Carlota loves all her children.

"They can't get married that fast. That's very strange," comments Denis, the twin who has been giving me a dirty look ever since I walked through the door of his house. I smile mockingly, why do Kelly's older brothers still live with their parents? I think I should ask my future wife.

"You're pregnant, that's why it's so urgent. "or supports Dale.

" Calm down guys, your sister is too old to decide what she wants, you understand," Albert scolds them, "You have my support too.

"And mine,"says the youngest.

" Then in two weeks there's a wedding!" Carlota gets excited, her joy makes me a bit uncomfortable, but I don't show it.
