"What are your thoughts, Mary?" I inquired, observing her face with an inscrutable expression.
Her prolonged silence made me increasingly uncomfortable. Typically, if Mary found my work commendable, she would offer immediate praise. However, her quiet contemplation and unreadable expression hinted that my creation fell short of her expectations.
I had already applied to be one of the artists featured at the upcoming event in Manhattan, awaiting their response within a few days. Knowing this, I dedicated myself to working tirelessly on these paintings for the past few days. The exhibition was scheduled to take place in about 3 to 4 weeks, and I wanted to be well-prepared, and ready to showcase my art should I be accepted.
