Chapter 101. Puppets
“How’s that possible with my last name on my plate number?” I tried to joke, but he frowned.
“Nepotism won’t fly here,” he snapped, “you were driving above the speed limit and would not stop.”
“What? I wasn’t.”
“Who’s your friend?” He turned away from me to face Sean now, and the stench of trouble became stronger in the air.
It felt surreal to be having this kind of conversation with a patrol cop when everyone recognized me. And more so, I was definitely not violating any traffic laws.
“What’s he so nervous about? Can I see your car?”
“And what are you hoping to find?” I yanked off my polite mask.
Just then I noticed another patrol car heading fast towards us.
“Are you trying to obstruct justice?” The cop squared his feet to gaze up into my eyes.
“What justice exactly?” My temple was starting to beat now.
