Chapter 194. A Hunt

The next two days were the most silent I have had since the moment I agreed to be Dean Fletcher’s wife. 

And despite longing for silence and quiet all these months, this one filled me with unease. This silence that lay heavy with broken things, splintered, sharp things that could pierce skin. 

Louise was unusually quiet, and I knew her enough to recognize that she must be stringing together plans to punish me for my words.

She wouldn’t kill me, of course, not until I placed the Rosetta in her hands. But the woman could never run out of ideas to make a person’s life hell.

There was Dean too. 

We shared the same room, bumped into each other around the house, since he'd been forced to stay indoors for the next couple of days, and I had no desire to go anywhere else besides the gym downstairs for hot yoga, and the expansive Fletcher grounds for my evening runs.
