“When was the last time you felt me inside you, Olivia?” 

I was kneeling completely naked on a padded bench now, breathing better from the humidifier he had turned on because I kept forgetting to breathe. 

This humidifier filled the dark-pink room with mist that made the scene feel unreal, removing me from every chaos that was my life, Dean, Louise, the haunting letter and painting from Morvian. 

The only thing that felt real right now was Colt and his grief.

And in this mist, so heavy it resembled a dry ice fog at a couple’s first dance at their wedding reception, the girl was real too. The sweet girl, who I still do not know her name, was here with us. Her essence, her memory, that beautiful light that still didn't go out of her eyes while she bled to death. 

It lit up the room, making this dark, dark scene seem almost romantic.

“The basement,” I responded finally, but my body didn't jolt or shiver at the word the way it had come to
