My legs froze in the doorway, and Axel ran into me.
I turned around, apologizing awkwardly as he looked over my head into the living room, and he frowned.
“It’s OK, Liv.” He returned absentmindedly, walking beside me into the living room. “Where is Sean?” His voice was not at all friendly.
Tara regarded him cooly, seeming more like herself every passing second, and she shrugged. “Savannah needed him this morning, so he asked me here since my house is closer,”
“What?” Axel frowned, and his fury at this information whipped up my suspicion and earlier uneasiness awake, again.
I turned, running and taking the staircase two at a time, while Axel continued to drill Tara with even more questions.
