Chapter 21. Baby Girl
Mason’s POV
Claire was pacing back and forth in the hospital hallway, biting her nails in fear while I sat down with my arms folded, waiting for the doctor to come out and give us news on Ava.
“It’s been ten hours, Mason. We should have gotten something by now,” she complained for the tenth time since we got to the hospital. “It’s taking too long, maybe something’s…”
“She’ll be fine,” I interrupted her. I was panicking too but I didn’t want to show it.
The look on Ava’s face when the labour pain started to hit her replayed in my head. I wished I could do something to ease her pain but I couldn’t. All I could do was wait.
My belly growled with anger of being useless and I ran my fingers through my hair, grinding my teeth.
My phone ringing snapped me out of my thoughts.
I pulled it out of my pocket, my frown deepening at the name on the screen.
Max.
My brother.
What a perfect coincidence. He never once called me since
