Chapter 25. Do You Want Out of the Deal?

Mason’s POV

“Come on, munchkin. Let’s get you to school before your teacher scold me for bringing you late again.”

Sophie glared at me in the doorway, arms crossed with a cute pout on her face. “I’m not a munchkin. I’m a big girl.”

I suppressed a smile and dropped to the floor to tie her shoes. “A big girl who still needs help to tie her shoes?”

She pouted again. “I can tie it myself. You just tie it faster.”

I tied up her hair, and she snorted in anger. “Fine, Miss Big girl. Let’s go.”

She slung her bag over her shoulder and sped off towards the car. I trailed behind her by a step or two. I opened the door and secured her in place with the seatbelt before slamming it shut. I naturally turned back over my shoulder as I walked to the driver’s seat, catching a look in the direction of Ava’s parking spot.

Her car was still there.

That was not right.

She was usually at work by this time. Maybe she was running a bit late today.
